Creative travel in the Himalayan Kingdom!
Bhutan Homestay is a Bhutan-based, registered tour operator that specializes in sustainable and ethical travel. Bhutan Homestay aims to benefit rural communities by offering guests a range of farm- and home-based stays. The company also organizes local crafts workshops for those on its tours, such as weaving in Lhuentse and basket or paper making in Trashigang. These activities generate some additional income for local farmers and crafts people, and so help to counter rural-urban migration.
Bhutan Homestay is one of the main local partners of Bhutan Network, and supports our farmers in several ways, sending guests to their homes yet also sponsoring and purchasing much-needed equipment. Two percent of the money earned by Bhutan Homestay from each tour flows into a fund that is used for our Bhutan Network projects, and Bhutan Homestay also organizes our bespoke tours for Bhutan Network members.
